CD cover analysis
The main image of the artist- This is a front cover photo of Duffy's album
which is called Rockaferry. She appears to be
dressed very formally which reveals her
personality in nature is very much
sophisticating. This would also reveal her
target audience to being adults between the
ages of 25-50. Her posture seems very humble
as she appears to be looking down as if she
were in deep thought. This would also go
against the way artists directly gaze at the
camera on album covers.
composition and layout- Duffy here is placed at the centre which would
connote her importance and it is shown through a
long medium shot of her standing near what appears
to be a train that could only be running outside of
London which suggests she is from someplace else
in the United Kingdom.
Typography- The font of this album cover appears to be bold and simple much
like her music appears to be.
The overall shot of this album cover is in black and white. Black and
white shots are normally used to portray a past memory and maybe the use
of this shows her songs her reminders of her past memories and experiences
in life.
